Insights Into The Collective - Kaffe Fassett Spring 2017
The Kaffe Fassett Collective is a collaboration of three of the most well known and respected designers in the patchwork & quilting industry; Kaffe Fassett, Philip Jacobs and Brandon Mably.
Twice a year they release a new collection, with new designs from Kaffe and re-colours from Philip and Brandon, or vice versa.
For the 2017 Spring Collection at Cotton Patch we have twelve re-coloured patterns from Kaffe Fassett, six new designs from Philip Jacobs and five new designs from Brandon. Over the next three days we will be looking at all the new releases that have just hit our selves, starting with the man of the hour, Kaffe Fassett. Prepare to begin drooling.
Likened to a modern day William Morris, Kaffe’s bold designs and unique sense of colour have elevated him to a celebrity status in the world of textiles.
His Spring 2017 Collection recolours include one of his best selling designs, Ferns, which now comes in a fresh green colourway plus a dark brown. I have a feeling that the new green may soon match in popularity with the current most popular colourway in purple, which has been used in many of his quilt designs.

Other designs include the ever popular and long running Bekah, some colours of which were first introduced in 2007! The design is now available in a sunny yellow and a deliciously deep lavender.
Dream has been a very popular design over the last year, due partly to it being featured in Kaffe’s Stone Log Cabin Quilt from his 2016 book ‘Quilts in Italy’.
The high contrast of the floral designs to the background make it a great option for fussy cut florals. The new colourways for this design now include magenta, yellow and my personal favourite, dark.

The remaining recolours are part of Kaffe’s ever growing collection of highly versatile ‘Spots’ and ‘Aboriginal Dots’. These prints are some of my favourites in the shop because there is nearly always the colour combination you need, and the scale is spot on. (Pun not initially intended, i'm just naturally hilarious...)
So that's the round-up of Kaffe's re-colours. Which one is your favourite? What tones or colour combinations would you like to see more of in the KFC? Let us know below!
Tomorrow we will be looking at what's new from Philip, featuring large quantities of enthusiasm because i'm a bit of a fan.
P.S. You can find all of these Kaffe Fassett fabrics plus more on our website.
P.P.S If you would like to increase the size of your KFC stash, then why not sign up for our Kaffe Fassett Club?
