Vote for the Quilters Guild Project in the National Lottery Awards!
We recently received an email from Creative Exhibitions about the Quilters Guild "Unfolding the Quilts" project which "has reached the semi-finals of the National Lottery Awards, the annual search to find Britain’s favourite Lottery-funded projects, in the ‘Best Heritage Project’ category. Your vote can help The Guild to reach the finals, which will be shown on BBC 1 television. This would be tremendous publicity for quilting and for the Quilt Museum and Gallery and would recognise the hard work of the staff and volunteers in making the Quilt Museum and Gallery a great place to visit."
Clearly much voting needs to be done and who better to call on than quilters! Click here to vote

Dear Sir or Madam
Everyone visiting the twistedthread site has one thing in common – an interest in textiles. What’s more, we all want to raise the profile of textiles.
So when our friends at The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles told us they had made it into the semi finals of the National Lottery Awards with their project “Unfolding the Quilts”, we thought we would attempt to galvanise you into action and ask you to vote for their project and thereby help this excellent cause.

But lets tell you a bit more first!
The Quilters’ Guild’s project ‘Unfolding the Quilts’, based at the Quilt Museum and Gallery in York, has reached the semi-finals of the National Lottery Awards, the annual search to find Britain’s favourite Lottery-funded projects, in the ‘Best Heritage Project’ category.
Your vote can help The Guild to reach the finals, which will be shown on BBC 1 television. This would be tremendous publicity for quilting and for the Quilt Museum and Gallery and would recognise the hard work of the staff and volunteers in making the Quilt Museum and Gallery a great place to visit.
The Heritage Lottery grant supports the Museum and Gallery’s work with volunteers and in education and outreach.
Over 30,000 people have visited the Quilt Museum and Gallery since opening in 2008 and this would not have been possible without the support of volunteers stewarding the exhibitions, helping with education events and working behind the scenes. Volunteers have been able to learn about the Collection and learn new skills. Others have practiced their own sewing skills making items in support of exhibitions.
The Museum and Gallery’s education programme has enabled over 6,250 adults and children to learn and develop practical sewing skills and to learn about the history, art and craft of patchwork and quilting. They have worked with a wide variety of people including school groups, children and young people, young mothers, people in hospital, elderly people in care homes and others from across the community. The Lottery-funded programme has enabled them to do this at little or no cost to participants.
