Hi just wanted to say I had a fantastic time at the show, the display from cottonpatch was outstanding. Your staff were very helpful in helping me select fabric, the range on display was beautiful. Now have enough fabric for at least 3 quilts.

Thanks Liz! I was looking under Longarm Quilting Accessories and didn't know it was under the whole Frames, Sewing machines and Hoops bit! lol The leader zips would be great. I did think about tying to find some vinyl to do my own pattern grid thing but I haven't found the right weight yet. Something will turn up I'm sure. I've been on the Avante all day, still going like a charm!

The leader zips and Pattern Grid we'll discuss with Vicki from Handi Quilter next week. We looked at the product but the size of the pattern grid made the product really expensive to ship. Maybe there is something that could be adapted and sourced in the UK instead?

Thanks Pauline - yes, the Avante did make a big difference. And Issabella the Cat - the book must have inspired so many people last year and just think of all the quilts that have been made because of it!

Ruth, glad to hear the saturated colours technique worked for you. For many years we saw fabric that was large scale designs and we didn't know what to do with it - now we do!

And Gill - go for it - its just a case of diving in!

I think this is a fabulous first quilt! I definitely think your strategy of going for saturated colours worked well - I've also recently employed that tactic on a quilt with really simple piecing, and it worked well for me too! looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I started with the same book, I honestly think her approach was the kick in the butt I needed to let go of my "idea" of what making quilts was all about :) Please do post pics of quilt number two as well!
